Dear Summer 2014

Dear Summer,
I feel like I haven't had a second to enjoy you. I have not had a chance to float in Lake Lanier or hike to the falls in Rabun County. I haven't been able to enjoy the food at the food truck festivals. I have sat in the saddle maybe 4 times... but that will hopefully all be different next summer.

You see this summer started off with a loss. One that hurt more than I ever thought possible. I stood up and brushed myself off, prayed for peace and got back to my normal routine. We threw ourselves into work and getting back on budget. When we finally looked up summer was almost gone. Chris works every other weekend so that left only like 6 weekends and we were so busy catching up on stuff that we didn't have time for anything else.

Today we got a life-changing call. He has been offered another job with half the hours! They have two positions. One that pays the same (5am - 2pm) and one that pays his income now plus what I make (3am- noon).  We are weighing the options with hours and pay and all that stuff. He is off every weekend so I think the lack of seeing each other during the week won't be a big deal. He thinks it will be a huge adjustment because we work together and see each other throughout the day between assignments now. We just hope it all works the way it's supposed to.

Say a prayer that it all works out!

Dear Brantley

Dear Brantley,
Just a quick catch up letter so 20 years from now you can see what life at 8 months was like and I can embarrass you in front of the ladies. That is going to be hard to do because you are the cutest baby ever. Seriously. Auntie Anna makes you model and this is what we get:

Perfection. The blue seat, matches you blue jean diaper, that matches those big blue eyes. 

These days you are crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything. Oh and everything has to go in your mouth. Sometimes that gets a little interesting and a little gross. The toys, your toes, the dogs ear.... 

This particular moment it was just your fingers. 

You love all things dangerous. The four wheeler and gator are 2 of your favorite things. You also enjoy your toy hammer because we tell you to be careful with it and the thrill of thinking it's dangerous makes you giggle. You also love your rattle cars. And this toy that says "shake it baby".  You like when we say silly things like, "big booty Judy" or "goofy baby" or "yummy". So random but you laugh uncontrollably.  

You have finally started eating solid food. Only took you eight months, but you decided it wasn't so bad and one of your first words was bite-bite. You can also say mama and "Gee" which is what you currently call dee-dee (nana). I hope the next word is auntie. 

You like to watch camping and farming videos with uncle Chris. You also like watching daddy and uncle Chris destroy I mean, work on things. Papa is one of your favorite people. Once he has you no one else gets a chance. You are one loved little boy. You keep us laughing and you keep us young and I love you to pieces.

The World would be a better place if...

The world would be a better place if...
... everyone got to wake up to a view like that everyday.
... wine were free. Like tap water!
... water tasted like sweet tea. I would be super healthy.
... the word "hate" was never uttered.
... chocolate had zero calories.
... people learned to love like dogs do.
... jeans were comfy. I am talking yoga pant style.
... makeup went on perfect every time. scratch that... if makeup wasn't the norm or standard.
... alarm clocks didn't exist.
... things were simpler and people learned to slow down and enjoy it all.

And that is what I am going to do tonight. Drink my wine and enjoy it all.

Tunes on Tuesday

So I have decided that on Tuesday I will share the song that is my flavor of the week. I am one of those people who can go from hip-hop to bluegrass in 2.5 seconds so if you don't like my style this week, stop back by next week.

This week is revival at my church. I have not made it to service yet but I really hope to go Thursday night. Yesterday I was on Rdio and this song started playing. I stopped working and listened to the lyrics.

 I immediately thought of my great-grandmother. She was the most spiritual woman I know. Bluegrass music was always playing, she was always ready with scripture to share and if you needed a prayer you could count on her. Lord knows she prayed for my soul many nights and I am forever grateful.

Blog Everyday in July: Finish this sentence

I am awful about blogging everyday. In fact I haven't really kept up at all. I have read everyone elses' response but with school and work I haven't participated. I thought this was too much fun to miss out on and had to take part today though!

When I open the fridge, I always hope I find a million bucks... or sweet tea. I have to have it everyday. Do I need rehab for tea addiction? Maybe. 

My favorite article of clothing is  on a lazy day my super comfy yoga pants and this gray shirt I have with a lace back. Otherwise my black maxi skirt because it goes with everything!  

Last week I was really pissed when I realized the back passenger glass on my truck was broken. It made a pretty pattern though. (always look for the positive, folks!)

One thing nobody understands about me is why I sometimes settle job wise. Heck, I don't even understand this one, but that should change soon. Stay tuned for that update. 

One thing I don't understand is how people can be cruel to animals or children. 

The world would be a better place if weekends and weekdays would switch places. You know, more time for activities. 

If I had a million dollars, I'd pay off debt and by my dream home and travel with that man of mine. 

If I knew I'd die next week, this week I'd spend every second I could with my horses, family and friends. I would make sure they knew how much I loved them. 

If I could change one thing about myself, it would be my boobs. Triple D is out of control. They are forever in the way and cute shirts just aren't cute. 

Something that can always make me happy is my horse or cheesecake. I will take either one. 

Something I'll never blog about is  nothing.  I am an open book. I will tell you anything you want to know. Go ahead,  ask. 

If I could go anywhere I would go to Austria and/or Germany Because the riding there is the best in the world and family heritage and stuff. 

If I were an animal I would be a lemur. Seriously, those guys look they have fun. They bounce around and meditate. Does it get any better?

A job I've always wanted is to own a cozy little bookstore. I wouldn't work, just read all the time. 

My idea of a perfect day is exploring some battlefield or historic town with the hubby. Then dinner and reading a book on the front porch.
