Thankful

I try to remember what I am thankful for daily. I even started a Blessings Journal. This time of the year usually makes us think about  it a little bit more. This year has been a wild ride. I have been at my highest and my lowest. Some of the biggest changes of my life occured this year and even though it was a little rocky it has been one of  the most rewarding.
So here it is...
What I am thankful for this year.
My family and how close we have grown.
Getting to experience carrying a child even if it ended with pain.
Brantley
Chris's new job and the free time it has given us.
My faith journey and how close I am to God right now. (I have even found patience. Gasp!)
My home.
My health.
My friends.
Casper and the fact I was able to give him an amazing retirement. (Thanks mom and dad!)
The dogs and their never wavering loyalty.
The bond I share with my sisters.
Rosewood Farm and my barn family.
My marriage.
I could go on and on but you get it, I am blessed beyond belief.
So now off to enjoy a few of those blessings. Happy Thanksgiving!

'Tis the Season

I am so excited for Christmas this year!

The past few years I have been stressed and busy and have not made time to enjoy the season. This year I have decided to stop getting so caught up in everything and enjoy every second. This year I am  taking the time to put the tree up, not just throwing it up at the last minute. I am playing Christmas music a little earlier, Christmas shopping with Starbucks in hand and bundling up and enjoying the fact that we are actually getting winter like weather for once.

Another thing I will be doing... picking out the perfect Christmas card. Last year I lost track of time and didn't send any out. This year I am heading over to my favorite place to get cards for every occasion, Cardstore!

I got the best Father's day card from them and they have the cutest Valentine's day cards. I clicked over on the website this season and they, again, have amazing cards to choose from. You can find photo cards, funny cards, Religious cards and more. My problem is currently deciding which one to buy. I love them all!

Cardstore is currently hosting a Candid Christmas photo contest. The grand prize winner will receive a $1,500 Visa gift card, a Nikon CoolPix camera, and free Cardstore Christmas card! That is amazing. They are also giving one of my lucky readers 50 cards! See? We are making your Holiday Season a little less stress full!

Why I am a List Maker

My husband is super type A. He researches topics and makes lists constantly. If he says he wants to buy something big, it means a 6 month research project is about to happen. In a way, it is nice because we are usually well informed and get great deals. It can also be annoying because when I want something I want it now. During his research he makes pro/con lists, list on brands, lists on needs/wants, lists about everything.

When we first met the lists made me nervous. To-do lists a mile long terrify someone who is a free, go-with-the-flow spirit. It caused so many fights in the beginning and to be honest sometimes when he goes insane with the lists it still does. I do not need a list of every little thing that is wrong with our house. That is a good way to make me have a panic attack. We knew this was going to be a project when we bought it.

Even though his super detailed lists make me squirm I have found benefits to list making. Like, I actually get things done. What?! It is true. I have found that because I am a little OCD, it drives me crazy to have something left on a list where everything else is marked off. I make small list of about 3-4 things that are manageable for the day. It keeps me focused and I can time manage based on what is on the list.

I usually get to work and make my work to-do list. This goes on a Post-it Note on my agenda for the day.  I work through it and what ever is left goes on the next days list. There is rarely anything left. When I get home, I make a quick list of things to get accomplished for the evening. Again, anything left on it by my cut-off time is put on the next days list. I always have a cut-off time in the evenings, so I force myself to relax a little. It's usually 8:00pm. During this time computers, homework, work and phones are put away.

I have found this is the only way I am productive. It's sad but true. If I don't have a list with a goal you can forget me accomplishing anything. Hi my name is Mallory and I need lists to be a real adult.

Stuff My husband says

Sometimes my husband says the most ridiculous things. Most of the time it's just a line or two thrown in conversation that makes me pause and shake my head. I have decided to share his little bits of wisdom with you. Enjoy.

Watching the CMA's
Chris- "Keith Urban is wearing skinny jeans."
Me- "Yep. It's called fashion. It drives the ladies crazy."
Chris- "Well, he doesn't sound like himself and I blame it on the fact that his jeans are too tight."
He sounds like he is 80 sometimes.

Talking to Lacey (the min pin)-
She is scratching around on her bed trying to get comfy.
He says, "Lacey, just lay down already. You are being ridiculous. Do you realize that?"
Says the one talking to the dog.

Laying in bed- Me-
"I want to adopt a horse and maybe a rabbit and did you see the picture of the dog I sent you from the humane society?"
Chris starts singing "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" by Tammy Wynette.

 Sunday AM-
I roll out of bed later than I had planned.
Chris- "We won't make it to breakfast now."
Me- " We will go to lunch."
Chris- " But breakfast is my favorite. The song says 'stand by your man' not stand by your man unless you are tired."
How is that even relevant?

He can be a bit dramatic but I love him. Does your significant other ever make you shake your head?

Busy bee

So I did well during blogtober. Thanks to Helene and Taylor's awesome post ideas I stayed on track. Then November 1st rolled around. No one was here to supply ideas, our weekends were full and we are smack dab in the middle of the semester. I lost steam quickly.
In any spare moment I can grasp I work on school and stay glued to the computer. My husband finally broke my focus when he sent me a text saying "I miss you." I realized I had been putting everyone and everything first. Oops. Being a busy bee is not always a good thing.

So today I will be giving you a photo dump post of everything we have been doing.
My favorite boy in the whole world had his 1st birthday. We went with a ATV theme. Can you believe he is walking?! I feel like he was just entering the world and stealing our hearts.
We had a few bonfires with lots of wine and/or Fireball. (It depended on the week and the company) Yay for brisk fall nights!

We went mudding. Chris took this picture mid smirk. Thanks dear. Oh and this is after being sprayed off with the water hose. We were gross.
